Since 2001 The Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund has been supporting OVC’s quest to find more and better ways to deal with and understand the complex and devastating disease of canine cancer.

Thanks to those who support events such as our “Sociable” evening, Smiling Blue Skies has been able to fund a variety of exciting projects. To date almost $2 million has been raised which is amazing considering that there are no large companies or corporations backing the studies and grants. Smiling Blue Skies has funded special equipment needs including a suite of lighting equipment that can be moved from one treatment room to another and the Smiling Blue Skies quiet room.

Since 2014, Smiling Blue Skies has funded both the research coordinator’s role and the tissue and tumour bank’s coordinator’s role. There are now over 20,000 blood and tumour samples stored in OVC’s tumour bank. They are so integral to the researchers both for now and in the future. Since 2014, about 1090 cancer patients have been recruited in 35 oncology related studies including those in Lymphoma, Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Hemangiosarcoma and Osteosarcoma.

Smiling Blue Skies offers 24/7 support to anyone whose life has been touched by canine cancer. We are all kindred spirits. A huge thank you to Suzi Beber, founder of Smiling Blue Skies who has not only made this possible but who has become a shining star to so many of us while supporting us through our cancer journeys.

Tri-Mark Canine Services has held annual events for a decade starting off with photo days and we are so thrilled to have raised thousands of dollars with thanks to students and friends who have generously participated and donated. It is a small way to give back when so many of us have been blessed with being able to enjoy our best friends for as long as possible due to the quality of life made possible by advances in cancer research.

Congratulations to the winners of our amazing raffle prizes!

Stay tuned for updates on this year’s event and let’s continue to take a bite out of this devastating disease.
